Finger-style guitarist Duck Baker, one of American folk music’s best guitar players, will be presenting his new album The Roots and Branches of American Music on a solo tour of Picturehouse cinemas across the UK in April and May 2010.
Duck Baker is one of the few solo performers whose background includes almost every aspect of American music, from electric rock to finger-picking acoustic blues, ragtime, bluegrass and swing jazz. He has toured and recorded with virtually every significant British guitarist on the scene, including Davey Graham, John Renbourn, Bert Jansch and Stefan Grossman.
For this special solo tour of Picturehouse Cinemas, Duck Baker will be performing tracks from his new album The Roots and Branches of American Music, spanning Duck’s long career as one of the world’s best acoustic guitarists. Drawing on his widely varied experience and enlivening the presentation with stories and anecdotes Duck Baker will take you on a scintillation tour through the life of modern American folk music.
Mark Pavey/Duck Baker said: “I’m really looking forward to touring at Picturehouse Cinemas…”
Marc Allenby, Head of Marketing at Picturehouse Cinemas said: “We are always looking for exciting artists to perform at our cinemas and Duck Baker has to be up there with the very best. An experienced musician of his calibre is a wonderful addition to the growing strand of live entertainment available at Picturehouse cinemas.”
