A box of My Heart Belongs To Jenny CD’s has been unearthed and copies are available from the online store. This 2000 release was a follow-up to The Kid On The Mountain, Duck Baker’s 1980 LP, which was the first solo album by a fingerstyle guitarist devoted to what we now call Celtic music by quite a few years. Since Baker remained involved with Irish and Scottish tunes he decided to make another solo release of tunes he arranged after “The Kid On The Mountain”, and none of the tunes on that earlier release were revisited. There are dance tunes, slow airs, and a couple of O’Carolan compositions. It’s a safe bet that anyone who enjoyed The Kid On The Mountain will also want My Heart Belongs To Jenny, and when these copies run out, there will be no more, at least not for the foreseeable future.
Also available for the first time are digital versions of the two CD’s Duck Baker recorded in the 1990’s with the brilliant Appalachian vocalist, Molly Andrews. Ms. Andrews also plays dulcimer and autoharp as well as the guitar, though she left that part of it to Duck on their collaborations. Old-time music was a big part of the duo’s repertoire, but they also performed Irish songs and tunes, western swing, blues, and even Chuck Berry. Their first CD, American Traditional, was released in 1993, and The Moving Business appeared the following year. We hope to find enough live material for another release at some point, but that remains to be seen.
